Sneak-Peek : When an elderly multi-millionaire is found brutally murdered in Hollywood, and his young wife raped and beaten, the police assume the motive is robbery. Unable to find the perpetrators, the case is soon closed. A decade later, in different cities around the globe, three almost identical killings take place. In all cases the victim is an elderly male, wealthy, and newly married. Again his wife is found severely injured at the scene. At first it is thought they might be copycat killings, but it soon becomes clear that this is one deadly female killer, code named the Angel of Death by the police.
Book Review :
A can't-put-it-down novel from Sidney Sheldon's collection. The two main characters, Sofia Basta and Frankie Mancini were created in such a way that they became a great team of murderers with a unique, unbelievable way of trapping and killing innocent victims. Their targets were elderly multi-millionaires. Sofia was a sweet, innocent character designed to attract the multi-millionaires with her gorgeous look while Frankie was the mastermind behind the murders. Once Sofia has got the millionaires to marry her, that's when they started to kill. The millionaires beaten to death while their wives - Sofia - raped and beaten by Frankie. Surprisingly, the motive of the murders was not money! In a way the author was trying to convey the message that childhood memories do have a huge impact on someone's personality and life's direction.
From Hollywood to Europe and Asia, identical killings happened and nobody realized this connection until the son of the very first victim appeared to seek justice for his father - a decade after his father's death. But what will happen when the son got attracted to the gorgeous Sofia? When the two killers were caught during an attempt to kill a millionaire in India, that's when the game truly began.
"Who killed Andrew Jakes, Sofia? Was it Angela or Frankie? Or did they both do it together?"
Sofia answered without hesitation. "It was Frankie." She broke down in sobs.
"That's a lie!" Mancini jumped to his feet. "This is bullshit, it's a fucking performance. She chose Jakes as the first kill. She picked him out, not me!"
For those who like mysterious, suspense and thrilling stories, this book is highly suggested and will not let you down. You will find yourself so much into the book that you might feel as if you are living in Sofia's and Frankie's world. Do expect a shocking twist at the end too. Very-well written novel. Thumbs up!
